Enjoy the amazing mountain views by taking one of Vail's two gondolas (Gondola One and Eagle Bahn Gondola). Ride the Mountain Coaster down if you're up for an adrenaline rush! In the summer, you can also hike up the ski runs for amazing views!
The farmers' market runs from 9:30am-3:30pm every Sunday and is a great way to explore Vail Village. Grab a snack from one of the numerous stalls and enjoy!
This hike has a waterfall and fantastic views of the changing leaves! Parking is limited, but you can utilize the free Town of Vail bus to access this trail. Take the blue line, which serves East Vail and leaves from the Vail Transportation Center.
This authentic mountain town is straight from the mining era and rich with history. With cute shops and great food options in town, it's a fun difference from the resort feel of Vail. In addition to its victorian style architecture in town, there are some great views of a few of Colorado's 14ers.
Our favorite activity! Check out Timberline Tours for different options (or Clear Creek if you're able to stop in Idaho Springs).
It’s rare when something continues to improve after being around for 50 years, but Sweet Basil one of them. It’s been open since 1977 and is still a total Vail Village favorite. Specialties include ahi tuna sashimi, Colorado lamb T-bones, and whiskey maple duck breast. Make a reservation for the patio in the summer, especially since the first-come, first-serve bar seats always seem to be taken!
While this restaurant’s 40-year-old sister spot, Sweet Basil (mentioned above), is still the white-tablecloth reservation to make in Vail, try its downstairs sibling, Mountain Standard, for its unfussy gastropub atmosphere. Wood-roasted bone marrow, a grilled tiger-prawn Caesar salad, and blackened Texas redfish are among the hearty menu options, with classic raw-bar items also available.
People often say Vail Village feels like you've been transported to Europe, so complete the trip with a German meal at Alpenrose!
Bully Ranch, located inside the Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail, is a casual dining experience that focuses on Southwestern and American food presented in a western style ambiance.
Since 1964 Pepi’s Main Dining Room offers Continental cuisine, and the Antlers Room specializes in wild game and features tableside service. Enjoy live music on the patio.
Known for its popular bar scene, lively après ski crowd and live music, come by and enjoy casual American food. Family friendly, but 21 and over in the bar after 9pm!
This distillery is named after the 10th Mountain Division, which was the mountain warfare unit of the US Army that used to train at Camp Hale in the 1940s. We love a full circle story, and their whiskey is delicious too!
This wine bar is right on Bridge Street as you walk up toward the base of Vail Mountain, but it’s sort of tucked away, which makes it all the more cozy. In addition to its excellent wine list (50 pours by the glass), Root & Flower serves draft beers and craft cocktails.
